The overstay is back after a few month of submarine mode, we had an angry cop after us and now that we are all legal (yeah actually legal hostel and music venue) we feel confident at making more underground event than ever. Introducing Experiment our indie/experimental night (not so original title but it means what it means we gonna try to bring different music style into one night and make some really cool music)
Headliner and Japanese Underground hero : Yoshitake Expe featuring Kota Taki
is an extraordinary guitarist from the city of Osaka , Japan whose backbone can be found in a Funk Band in the 90s accompanied by American musicians.
With the use of numerous compact effectors he has established a unique Space guitar sound whilst processing sound with a story-like flow like that of a DJ with influences found in P-funk , Electro Techno , with a Brian Eno vibe and sensibility of Brazilian music , at times playing the guitar percussively creating improvised robotic house music , at times playing a sensual guitar solo , but at times very organic with a soothing acoustic sound and is guaranteed to take you on a space odyssey.
He has collaborated with varying types of artists from visual artists and painters , avant-garde , improvisational , jazz , techno , hip-hop , world music , music for film and soundtracks and is also highly regarded as a club DJ and continues to expand his musical horizon . He has also held an exhibition of sound installations accompanied with a 100 hour performance in art museums.
Nutron s debut album was voted “best album of the year(2003)” by Music Magazine and made an appearance at Fuji Rock Festival in 2004 .For the past 5 years he has been playing over 150 shows annually with his solo project .
His current projects involve a Space Funk duo with world class drummer Takashi Numazawa , Space Dub Funk with dub mixer Naoyuki Uchida and also formed a Super-Unit PARA together with Seiichi Yamamoto. Amongst many collaborations his performance with the treasure of Brazil , Marcos Suzano is especially memorable.
Stylish Nonsence is one of the pioneer of the alternative scene in Bangkok with their Label Panda records, and their insane melodies. Many times already June and Pok have delected us with their performances which never ends at the overstay, you ll see them smashing some cuisine utensils at 6 am while having one last drink.. And to make sure its legendary the party happens to be on June’s birthday…
God Hates is a new punk band made in Bangkok but rich in different origin. Hardcore band with a touch of 50’s Rock they are a new sensation in town and the chance to mix up the crowds and concepts.

So come in numbers The overstay is still on the refuge of alternative music and cool people in Bangkok we put a 100 Baht entry at the door its for the musicians if you can’t pay it we won’t force you just try to have a good excuse ! We ll be closing late as usual but please don’t think of us as a drink hole and come somehow around 10 so you can actually see the show ! Thank you love you all.
